Pre-recovery services

When a debtor has gone missing Pathfinder Investigations will attempt to trace the business and its owners or the private debtor, so that recovery action can be taken. With access to many records and the expertise to locate people, Pathfinder Investigations provides that initial trace service in-house.

Before commencing recovery action, a status report can be prepared and suspected assets traced to determine the viability of progressing recovery activities.

Certificated Bailiff

Pathfinder Investigations provides a Certificated Bailiff service throughout the South West of England and South Wales.

Certificated Bailiffs collect commercial debts such as rent arrears, and local authority debts such as unpaid council tax and parking fines.

Where possible the Bailiff will attempt to negotiate a repayment plan with the debtor according to the requirements of the creditor. If this proves unsuccessful the Bailiff has the legal power to remove a debtor’s goods (using a warrant of distrain issued under the laws of distress) and sell those goods to raise the value of the outstanding debt. The Bailiff costs are charged to the debtor according to a prescribed table of rates. These costs must also be paid by the debtor before the debt is discharged.

Landlord’s Agent

The Pathfinder Bailiff Service also provides a Landlord’s Agent service for the repossession of commercial property.

The law allows a landlord to enter a property and take possession when the rent is in arrears. Forfeiture can only take place when rent is two thirds in arrears, either on a quarterly or monthly basis, or where the contract states that forfeiture can be carried out after twenty one days of being in arrears.
